sacred wild donkeys

The community had several wild donkeys that just hung out on the outskirts of the town. The donkeys were there for two reasons 1) the aboriginals never kill an animal that they don't eat and 2) the missionaries taught them that Jesus rode donkeys. Therefore, they consider them sacred. They also point out that the donkey has a cross on its back.

Even though they are sacred they said we could still ride them!! My international friends were a little hesitant so I had to show them that it was ok. We were prepared for a real rodeo, but we could hardly get the donkeys to move!

If there is a next time, I think we will probably tie an apple to the end of of a string on a stick. I'm confident that will work.
